Interactive games and provided to initiate discussion on these topics.
Students can obtain supplies, information and have questions answerd.
Health Fairs
The education department staff participates in Health Fairs at local
schools and in the community. Health Fairs are a great way for this
program to interact with people in the community. It helps to increase
awareness of program services as well as distribute information
on pregnancy prevention and other health-related issues.
Peer Education
Peer leadership programs train youth form the community as peer
counselors. Once trained, peer counselors speak to others about
what they've learned. A peer advisor supervises all presentations.
Contact the Family Planning Program if you are interested in either
becoming a peer counselor/educator or having a presentation made
before your group.
Young Parent Speaker Program
This program trains adolescent parents as peer educators. Speaking
at schools, youth groups and community agencies, the Young Parents'
presentations carry a pregnancy prevention message with a personal
perspective.
Safe Teen Health
High school students are hired and trained in basic reproductive
anatomy, birth control, pregnancy prevention, abstinence, sexually
transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS and communication skills. They
present this information to their peers in health classes and in
the community.
